What else from 1992 would look totally out of place at an Antique car show?

idk man, those all look pretty classic-y actually. RX-7 is a good example of something modern looking that would totally not fit in. I mean, an EG hatchback next to a Duesenburg would be insane lol, but people generally know that those cars are old unlike an NSX or something

Can you image a F1 LM next to a 1950's Buick using the same Classic Auto or Vintage Vehicle plate? So rad!

looks very rad! I think the general public wouldn’t be surprised it with the plate. Though, parked next to a 1930 Cadillac of the same plates... oh yes THIS!

Does you state have any restrictions with antique plates? Rhode Island’s wording makes it seem like an antique can’t be taken out for pleasure drives and only to shows or for maintenance.

1992 was the ultimate year for cars imo. Transition from the 80s to 90s, you got the best of both worlds (and the E30 M3 was being sold at the same time as the E36 M3, which is just cool).

As for cars which would look out of place as antiques:

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

You could buy WRXs and Evos with cutting edge technology...

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

...And yet, you could also buy cars from dead brands originally designed for 1979.

So this was the ultimate transition year for cars. Lots of old and new.

My first car was a ‘92. It’s likely a Pepsi can by now, though, since the girl that bought it from me promptly killed it. The transmission was going out and I nursed it along for over a year but she had it dead within a week. I think I forgot to tell her you had to let off the gas before it would shift gears.

That was in 2006. I got my license 10 years ago? Wow. And now, the car I got as a 16th birthday present would be eligible for antique plates if it was still living. Sigh.

That’s a ‘95 or a ‘96. GM gave the Corsica a minor facelift for its final years. The ‘92 still had the black door trim and the 3.1 MPFI V6 versus the 3100 SFI unit available in the ‘94+.

I’m a GM FWD nerd. Feel free to judge me.

Damn that means two of my three count as antiques. I mean they aren’t new cars and neither looks like they were made yesterday but they both drive and feel like reasonably modern cars. Well, the 4Runner does and the Alfa would if it wasn’t always broken.

Maybe this is the 21 year old in me talking but besides the obvious like the navigation and audio system there’s nothing that sets my mom’s Lexus RX that incredibly off my 4Runner as far as luxury and refinement. It’s certainly more comfortable but the Toyota isn’t really all that uncomfortable. My steering has more play but makes up for it with at least some feedback compared to the numbness of the Lexus . I don’t get luxury cars man..

I think in WA state, it is a 30 year rule, maybe they stand out more to me. Also, older cars survive better here than just about anywhere, so plenty are still around. A Corsica is a strange thing to be considered an antique. I saw a Citation with antique plates on it a few years ago, and had to laugh.

I think the 1st and last ones could pass for early 2000's still. The others look aged even to the general public. All 5 mixed in with the traditional classic car even though would be spectacular!!!!!
